Gran Turismo 4 HD HUD & UI remake (2025)

I've had this texture pack released since 2023 but never bothered to post it here until now. Since I just released a significantly improved update I figured now would be a good time to make an account and post a thread in case anyone here was unaware of its existence.

*** Features: ***

1. HD HUD and UI textures:
All menus, text, and the in-race HUD have been redone in much higher resolution. These textures have greatly improved
the game's overall look when playing in HD on PCSX2. My goal with this texture pack was to give the game a 'remastered'
look and I think it succeeds in achieving that. This was accomplished with a combination of fully redrawn/replaced
textures from scratch, and careful use of ai upscales. This 'remastering' of the game's U.I. has transformed the game's presentation
overall in a major way. Unlike most other emulator texture packs out there, Gran Turismo 4 HD HUD & UI
is completely hand-crafted with hundreds of hours spent perfecting every detail, resulting in top-notch
quality. This texture pack is an essential enhancement to your experience playing Gran Turismo 4 in 2025 and beyond.

2. 16:9 aspect ratio-corrected UI textures:
All UI textures that were still 4:3 stretched when in 16:9 mode have now been 'squished' horizontally
to make them display in their correct aspect ratio when in 16:9 mode. This was done by widening the
horizontal canvas size of the textures by 33%, rather than simply squishing the actual visual data of
the texture, as to not reduce the horizontal resolution.

Note: The track logos are aspect-corrected when in a race, when they appear briefly during
grid starts by default. However, they are not aspect-corrected when in the menus. I decided to
'squish' them anyway as their appearance is much more important in the menus and greatly improves
the look of the menus when they are 'squished'.

3. Typo Corrections:
Due to some text being stored as a texture, I was able to correct a couple typos that Polyphony made.
1. GT Auto's "cleand" -- cleaned
2. Main menu's "EUROPIAN STREET" -- EUROPEAN STREET
3. Japanese version's "Certificated Driver" on license reward screen -- Certified driver

4. Secret Menu instructions added to the options menu background:
The options menu now has instructions on how to access the secret menu on the right side of the screen.
The main reason to access it is to widen the game's field of view multiplier setting, called "Overscan Factor".

5. Alternate textures:
Included in this pack are some alternate textures that you can replace if desired:

1. Blanked replay watermark textures:
These allow the viewing of replays without the "REPLAY" and the "Gran Turismo 4" watermark
from ever appearing. This may be preferable to some players that wish to watch/record replays
without the watermarks appearing.
2. Odd numbers in the 10,000 RPM and 12,000 RPM tachometers:
2 Alternate tachometer textures that have the odd numbers included. May be preferable to
some players that like these better.

6. End-user mods:
With all of the texture work already done and textures organized, end-users can easily modify the existing textures in this pack any way
they want using image editing software. End-users can make the UI/HUD look any way they desire. Alternate colors, designs,
etc. are now possible.

7. Compatible with ALL versions of Gran Turismo 4. (See game version list below for corresponding Game IDs)

Known issues:
Pagani and Land rover brand icons strangely have infinitely repeating dumps. In v1.1, tons more were captured to improve this issue
but this may not be fixed 100%. As a result you may still experience these logos flicker between the original and replaced textures briefly, and
possibly experience it not getting replaced. Over time as more updates come out this should become less and less prevalent.
In the asia version, the "Replay" and "Exit" text after finishing a license test generate infinitely repeating textures, so they cannot be replaced.
Full width text symbols for Japan, Korea, and Asia versions are not complete / in-progress.

*** Extra Features and resources of this pack ***
This pack goes beyond merely providing texture files. GT4 has seen extraordinary advancements with patches made by the community
to improve the game with other fixes and improvements, both visually and gameplay-wise.

Included in this pack is a full suite filled with the latest detailed information on the best in-game settings, emulator settings, and most importantly, .pnach patches.
Make sure to check the "Other recommended enhancements.txt" file for a full patch library. Every patch that requires an external download is paired with
the link to where it was originally posted for easy access and credit to authors.

There are 2 Important patches I want to highlight:
1. Deinterlaced menus
2. 480p autoboot

With these two patches, the game runs ENTIRELY IN PROGRESSIVE SCAN, allowing it to no longer suffer from
halved vertical resolution, blurriness, interlace shaking, or flickering on thin lines / edges of UI elements, so make sure you are using them.
When these patches are active, you need to completely disable deinterlacing in the PCSX2 settings. I recommend adding a per-game setting for it as to not
cause inconvienence with the PCSX2 global deinterlacing setting for all other games you play.

*** How to Install: ***

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: IF YOU HAVE THE ORIGINAL 2023 VERSION OF HD HUD & UI ALREADY INSTALLED,
DELETE IT BEFORE INSTALLING UPDATE 1.1!
ASIDE FROM CLEANING UP UNUSED SPACE ON YOUR DRIVE,
A CLEAN INSTALLATION IS RECOMMENDED TO PREVENT TEXTURE CONFLICTS!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. In your PCSX2, check the search directory setting where texture replacements are dumped and loaded.
- To do so, open the emulator, go to Settings tab --> Graphics --> Texture Replacement tab
- In this window there will be a search directory, this is the directory where textures
will be dumped / loaded. If you want, you may set this to a custom path on your system.
Example: C:\Users\User\Desktop\pcsx2\textures

2. Inside the main "textures" folder directory, the emulator will be looking for a folder matching the
'Game ID' of the game currently running. Create the following game ID folder depending on the version
of Gran Turismo 4 you are trying to install the texture pack to:

Game Version List:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC-U USA/Canada release = SCUS-97328
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 PAL UK/Europe release = SCES-51719
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC-J Japan release = SCPS-17001
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC-K Korea release = SCKA-30001
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC-T Taiwan / "Asia" release = SCAJ-30007
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC-C China review copy = SCCS-60002
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 Online Test Version NTSC-J Japan release = PAPX-90523
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran Turismo 4 Online Public Beta NTSC-U USA release = SCUS-97436
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not Sure? Check the "Code" tab on the game's list entry in the main PCSX2 game selector window.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Once you have identified the correct game ID, create a new folder named the intended game ID.
Then go inside that folder, and create a new folder named "replacements".

Example: C:\Users\User\Desktop\pcsx2\textures\SCUS-97328\replacements

4. Inside the replacements folder, you can drag and drop textures into it, which PCSX2 will then
recognize and replace the original texture with the one that is present inside the replacements folder.
- Drag and drop the contents of the replacements folder from the downloaded texture pack into
this folder. With v1.1, the entire pack is now wrapped inside the "!_HD HUD & UI" folder. This is
done to maintain organization with other packs that you may install separately, and ensure that this
pack is prioritized over other packs avoiding replacement conflicts, which is done by giving the "!_" prefix.

Example: C:\Users\User\Desktop\pcsx2\textures\SCUS-97328\replacements\!_HD HUD & UI\ [*lots of various folders*]

Another pack I did for GT4 was my "Indiglo" pack; this gives you many options to customize the race HUD with colorful 'glow' gauges featuring a custom gauge face design.

Since this question is inevitible, I will answer it here:
If you are looking for a pack that tackles environments, cars, 3D objects etc. you will need to check out a separate pack made by a different individual: Hatersbby.
Hatersbby maintains his "GT4 Retexture Mod" pack on his post on the website gtplanet.net.
*** I HAVE NO INVOLVEMENT IN THE MAKING OF THE RETEXTURE MOD. DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT IT TO THE AUTHOR ON HIS FORUM POST BELOW. ***

Changes to the download link, various information, shout-outs, etc. are all maintained in the video's description.
If you decide to link this texture pack somewhere (sharing, documents, spreadsheets, etc.), please share the video link, and not the download link, to ensure
